I thought I was tall!

In December  we went to White Sands National Monument. My favorite part was walking the boardwalk. After we received our Junior Ranger programs we watched a short film about how the sand dunes were created.  One of the activities was to match the animal tracks within the book. Another one of the activities required us to take a hike. We chose the shorter boardwalk hike because we had a longer sunset walk at 4:00

. Another activity was to interview a Ranger. We interviewed Ranger Mark. After we interviewed him, he reviewed our books and gave us our White Sands National Monument Junior Ranger badge and patch. He was a nice ranger and I liked him a lot.

Once we finished getting the junior ranger program signed off we went on a sunset walk. The walk was lead by a volunteer. It was a great program. I got a chance to take a lot of good pictures. As the sun went down it got very cold. I really wish I had brought an extra coat. I got to see a lot of the Sand dunes.

There was even a yucca taller than my sister. We learned a lot about the animals that live in the desert. Most of the animals come out at night. We also saw cool plants that you can only see in the desert. The sunset was very pretty I really enjoyed my visit to the White Sands National Monument. I wish we had more time there and I can not wait to come back.
