Trail Explorer Carson Pass to Showers Lake
Wow – what a great day for a hike. The family hit the trail around 9:30 and made it Showers Lake a little after 11:30. The meadows and hill up to Showers Lake was filled with flowers and it was fantastic. I have hiked in Yosemite and Rocky Mountains National Park this summer and this was the first time I have seen flowers like this.
On our way up to Showers Lake, we stopped at the Meiss Family Cabin. I can only imagine how wonderful it would have been to live there during the summer.
I would describe this as a moderate hike. It was 9.6 miles round trip, starting at 8526 ft with a high point of 8850 ft. A large majority of the hike was flat.
